The 1930's were an era marked
by simplicity in virtually every aspect of life. Jobs were scarce and, unlike the
previous decade's dedication to decadence, the 30's ushered in a return to a more classic
form of feminine beauty. Overtly exerting one's independence through drastic style
took a back seat to more pressing family and social concerns and fashion and beauty
mirrored this change in ideals. While short hair was still popular, it was worn
slightly longer than the bobs of the 20's since many were growing their hair out.
Hair was also worn in a more feminine style, often with waves or curls surrounding
the face.
